In light of Bea Arthur’s recent passing, I got curious about “The Golden Girls.” Via Google, I stumbled across all kinds of trivia for the show. I bet you didn’t know this was a real song…

    OK, I didn’t know this was a real song either, lol. One of my girlfriends from college–a huge Golden Girls fan–broke into singing this at her wedding reception. Thank goodness the girl has a nice voice. It was such a touching moment that every guest at the reception joined in. It sounded like an entire stadium singing “Thank You For Being A Friend.”
    Awww. Bea will be missed.

  2. Actually . . . I did know this was a real song! Probably the best break Andrew Gold (who composed it as well as recorded it) ever had!
